connor alfred mason - august 19th 2005 - police statement
"it wasn't me. you've got the wrong guy, seriously. i mean, what are you even getting all angry for? i hardly did anything. what? no i'm not admitting i did something but i'm just say- .. would you stop interrupting me? i'm trying to make my statement and you're just stopping me. see, what happened was, well, george wanted to do something, so he came up with the idiotic idea to go and steal some crap from the local shop. we only took like a few bars of chocolate, a few energy drinks and a f- sorry. and a pot noodle for jimmy's dinner. nobody got hurt, did they? and i didn't actually steal anything. i was just in the back, doing my thing. there. i've told you what happened. happy now? what? this is bull. seriously. you're waiting for my mother to come here? my mother? she hasn't even looked at me for three years nevermind come and bail me out of this. she'd rather i was locked away for something i've not even done. what? my father? are you being serious? do you want me to live to see tomorrow. geez. brothers? yeah. i've got thomas. he wouldn't come. nobody in my family gives a damn about me. not my mother, my father, my brother, my sister. the only member of my family who actually cares is my dog and he's not even a human. oh think you're funny do you? come and get your dog to bail you out. aren't we hilarious? are you going to let me go now? because you know i haven't done anything wrong and if you keep me in overnight, you'll have a murder on your hands. because my father will come and do- what? don't tell me to shut up! or be calm. i didn't do anything! get it through your thick skull. what're you doing? oh come on. let me go."
statement over.

------------
so.. you're famous, huh?
"i'm famous. yeah. not really like.. seeeriously famous. i'm not everywhere on billboards and all that. i jut do a few shows every now and then. to be honest, i don't get that much work because of my past but i guess it's publicity and stuff? i'm not really into all this acting stuff. i just did the audition and here i am. might as well make the most of it, eh?"
audition? what audition?
"oh. well, i got this letter asking if i wanted to do an audition for a tv commercial. apparently my drama teacher had recommended me. believe it or not, i did actually go to school. as bad as i was. so yeah.. i went to the audition when i was seventeen because it took me a while to get away from my father. but i got the letter when i was fifteen."
you said you don't get work because of your past. what happened?
"hahaha. i'm surprised you don't already know. i lived with the worst guy ever. my father. he just liked to take things out on me. things that weren't even my fault and all that. but me and my mates stole some stuff and i got thrown in the slammer for the night. he was pretty mad about that. and he made sure the people at the audition knew. like. he'd phoned them up and told them. and he never lets me forget it even though it was like.. six years ago. i used to run away a lot and i pretty much lived in a broken home. i mean.. my family weren't exactly the best and they didn't really pay me much attention."
tell us more about your family?
"okay. erm.. where to start? well. i guess there's thomas who's my older brother.. and he used to be pretty okay with me but then my father started getting angry with me and tom blamed me or something. then he moved out and never bothered with us. he phones me from time to time to make sure i'm okay because, i know, deep down he's like.. still my big brother and he knows that it's his duty to make sure i'm not ruining my life even more. the thing with my father first started because my mother had a miscarriage. he blamed me because i was only three then.. and i was putting my mom under a load of pressure. enough pressure that she threw herself down the stairs when she was pregnant. but can i just say, none of us knew she was pregnant until the doctors said she'd had a miscarriage. so it's not like i'd done it purposely. my mom didn't really talk to anyone after that. never mind me. but my dad used to get really angry and shout at me. to be honest, it's a good job she lost the baby. otherwise it'd have been brought up in a terrible place. then there's my cousin, aunt and uncle. they're like.. more of a family to me. my uncle louis always brought me in when i was kicked out by my father and my aunt's the opposite of my mom. she's always talking and she's really bubbly and stuff. theo's like.. always there for me. the brother i never had. even though i'm like.. a year older than him. he still tries to make sure i'm the one who isn't in trouble. i do the same for him, obviously. "
so how did you get from brooklyn to here?
"well that's all part of my uncle. he was the one who took me to the audition and then when i got in, he said we'd all move to tennessee. without my father and mother, of course. so my father let me go. and here i am. in tennessee."
