RIDGE ON HIS FAME
"i never in a million years thought that anyone outside of santa fe would even know my name. i've been unhealthily attatched to my guitar since i was seven years old, and ive played just about every venue in southwestern new mexico since the age of thirteen. it was until i hit college that my career really started taking off though. at eighteen my entire life changed, now for the better or for the worse i still can't decide, but it's definitley changed. i was playing a club in alberqurque one night, and after the show a man introduced himself to me as david chapman of ATO records. considering this was the label that signed dave mathews, i was definitley familiar with them. he asked me to fly to santa monica with him the next day, and well, everything after that is honestly just a blur to me. before i knew it i was on tour opening for the goo goo dolls, and eventually i'd made my first record and it went platinum in less than a month. i was loving the attention and beign able to get my songs heard, but fame does take it's toll on a person. my hand is going to fall off one of these days from signing autograph after autograph. i work odd hours and late nights - i'm lucky if i even get an hour of sleep each night when i'm on tour. at some point i caught the eye of television producer, ollie walsh, and he asked me to come audition for his new tv seris hollow ground. i landed the part of one of the lead males, and it was only a few weeks later that they flew me out here to nashville to start taping. I haven't had much time for my music lately, but i'm definitley liking the pace of working in film a lot more. i'm anchored down to this one location, and i've even had a chance to enroll into college again in the hopes of completing my degree in composition and marketing. right now life is flowing pretty easily for me, and i'm just really enjoying where i'm at. and on the plus side, while it's no santa fe, nashville is a beautiful city. i'm immensely lucky to have been residing here for the past year."
