A long, long time ago, in New York City, a man and a woman fell in love. The girl was twenty-one, the man was twenty-eight. She was head over heels for the attractive young man, and she was his little brunette dream girl. One problem? He was married. Things got very serious between them and they began sleeping with each other on countless occasions, be it in his car, his house before his wife came home, public, or her apartment. She was infatuated, and he was absorbed in the little on the side bombshell. Soon after, she dropped the bomb that she was eight-weeks pregnant, and it had to be his. Considering she was already financially challenged and living in a shitty apartment complex with one bedroom and a split-room living room kitchen, and he was of course married, he didn't take this too lately. He refused to see her for days, and when he finally did, it was to tell her he wanted no part of the child's life. He was going back to his wife and never wanted to hear from her or the offspring again. Ouch!
That was where things began to go dark. She completely let herself go and picked up nasty habits along the way. At this point, Marley was just a little girl. Isobel began using cocaine, smoking, dressing and acting promiscuously...that, on top of the abandonment of her father, pushed little Marley over the edge. She'd seen on TV a woman overdosing on pills, and decided to try it out for herself. She passed out on the bathroom floor. Upon returning home, Isobel had a nervous breakdown and shipped herself and Marley to another state, settling down in New Jersey. She began handling modeling clients who were really nothing more than teenage girls with starry eyes and big dreams. Well, it turned out that with that territory came scummy young men trying to get ahead in the biz. It was only a matter of time until one of them took advantage of Marley when her mother wouldn't find out, and finally, beat her senseless. Indigo dealt with it until she was sixteen, which was when she moved in with her dad's family in Nashville.
Nowadays, Marley struggles with an ever-present eating disorder, sexuality issues, and the heavy weight of an abortion from her mother's old client. She dropped out of highschool after being told she'd need to repeat her senior year due to all the absences caused from her hospital visits, and now bums around in her dad's big ol' beach house he leaves unoccupied while he lives in France with his real family. She's happy as a clam, well, maybe a lonely, hungry all the time clam. She's never worked a day in her life, but that doesn't make her spoilt or bratty in the least. She's a very sweet girl despite all her shortcomings, and she tries her hardest at most everything she does.
